What Does Window Cleaning Include?
Glass inside and out, screens, tracks and sills — what a professional window clean covers, what’s quoted separately, and what it costs per window.
What does window cleaning include?
A professional window clean covers the glass inside and out, the screens, the tracks and the sills — the whole window, not just the pane. Screens, tracks and sills are counted in the per-window price.
| Part of the window | In a window clean |
|---|---|
| Glass | Interior and exterior panes; sliding doors and glass panels; French and divided-light windows; streak-free, lint-free finish |
| Screens | Removed, washed and re-set |
| Tracks | Vacuumed and wiped |
| Sills and frames | Cleaned; cobwebs and debris cleared |
| Reach | Ground-floor and standard ladder-reach windows; surroundings and landscaping protected |
| Quoted separately | Hard-water and mineral-deposit removal; blinds, by count |
| Not taken on | High-rise and rope-access facade work |
Does window cleaning include screens and tracks?
Yes. Screens are removed and washed, tracks are vacuumed and wiped, and sills and frames are cleaned before the screens are re-set. Tracks are where Santa Ana grit and canyon dust collect, so skipping them leaves the window gritty however clear the glass is — the reason the window schedule puts canyon and coastal homes on a shorter cycle.
Is window cleaning inside and outside?
Both, by default. Interior glass is done from inside with the home occupied; exterior glass from the ground or a ladder. You can book one side only — interior-only skips the exterior reach and ladder time, so it prices lower per window, around $14–$15. The trade-offs are in interior vs. exterior window cleaning.
Is hard-water spot removal included?
Hard-water and mineral-deposit removal is quoted separately from routine cleaning. Sprinkler spotting inland and salt film near the coast are treated to restore clarity; deeply etched glass is flagged before work begins, since severe etching cannot always be fully reversed. The causes and fixes are in inland hard-water stains and salt-air residue on ocean-view glass.
Window cleaning is quoted flat before the visit — $14–$18 per window, with a written 24-hour re-clean. See the service or request a quote.
What window cleaning doesn’t include
- Blinds — quoted by count as an add-on, for every service.
- Heavy hard-water and mineral deposits — quoted separately, as above.
- High-rise and rope-access facade work — not taken on; the work is ground-floor and standard ladder-reach.
- Storefronts and small offices — quoted under commercial cleaning.
How often should you book window cleaning?
Most homes twice a year, spring and fall; coastal and canyon homes more often. Other good times: after construction or a dusty remodel, and before a listing or an event. The full schedule is in how often to clean your windows.
How much does window cleaning cost?
Window cleaning runs $14–$18 per window, inside and out: $200–$375 for a condo or small home (about 10–15 windows), $400–$650 for a standard home (20–30), $650–$1,000 for a large home (30–45) and $1,000+ for an estate. The quote covers price and estimated time and is fixed before anything is scheduled. Ranges and examples are in the window cleaning cost guide.

They were very thorough. They cleaned my window sills, thresholds, windows, doors, floors, walls, ceiling fans and everything. They were very pleasant.
