It is organized in villages — Sycamore Canyon, Country Club, Lake Park and Long Canyon — about 3,000 homes in all, along Wood Ranch Parkway, Country Club Drive and Long Canyon Road.

Some sub-associations are gated, including Long Canyon’s guard-staffed entries. At the center is the private Wood Ranch Golf Club, a Ted Robinson course from 1985, and around it the 969-acre Wood Ranch Open Space of oak woodland reaching toward the Simi Hills.
Fire is the nearby risk: the 2019 Easy Fire, which started near Madera Road, nearly surrounded the Reagan Library on the hill above.
